I may need to start regularly taking Focus Factor, or something like it. My brain is all over the place. I made some wicked strong coffee this morning and let’s just say the side effects include a lot of shaking, the inability to blink for short periods of time and minor chest pain. Booya.
Today’s first topic is direction. I’m finding it difficult to write only about sustainability from an environmental perspective. If you read my post, The World Trade Organization and Sustainable Development, you’ll know that the social, economic and environmental effects of humanity’s decision making are related. Therefore, I will be expanding the scope of my posts to include all of these issues. I’ve toed the line many times but from now I will make an ostensible effort to cover issues I think, read and care about, even if there is no direct environmental effect (though there’s surely an indirect one).
Second is design. I know I don’t get a bunch of traffic but if you’re reading this and like or dislike something about the design of the site please let me know. The design is basic, though perhaps a little cluttered. I want to make the site as readable as possible without sacrificing content. I’m toying with a much simpler design but I’m not sure if I’ll make the switch permanently.
Third is the war in Iraq. WTF? Sen. Chuck Hagel, a Republican, called Bush’s latest war strategy, “the most dangerous foreign policy blunder in this country since Vietnam”. I’ve mentioned before I’m torn about this war. We never should have gone but now that we’re in we owe it to the Iraqis to finish the job. But, we also owe it to the American troops that if are to finish the job we should do it right. This is why Bush must pay for his initial mistake. The lies he shoved down the throats of every American have put us in an impossible situation. Americans will continue to die if we stay in Iraq, and more than absolutely necessary will die if we half-ass it like we’ve been doing. This is not a criticism on our troops, who have more courage than I ever will, but on our leadership. How stupid can one man be? The population, the military and now the majority of our representatives have tried to guide the president. They’ve done so using prudence and research and consultation. Why is he so fucking stupid? Why? Ugh, the caffeine must be exorcised!
