I Know Why

Stream of consciousness . . . I think I know why I can’t keep up on my posts. After a little reflection I realized that I want everything I write to be all-encompassing. I can’t deal with just focusing on a very specific topic. I’m always trying to make each argument as academic as possible. The goal of this blog is really two-fold. First and foremost, I’d like to hone my writing skills and develop my ability to think about issues critically. Second, I’d like to share my thoughts with others. This leads to a problem. I have a lot of thoughts . . . and a lot of issues, er, with actual issues. I need to focus on “one” genre of social issues. Currently my sidebar lists a plethora of subject matters. I can’t begin to tackle each one on a regular basis. This leads to detachment and flippancy on all topics. By trying to commit to all of them I commit to none. My new focus will be the urban environment. This is a monstrous arena but still significantly more focused than before. Writing about politics makes my brain hurt and is better done by people more involved with what’s happening.
